imported vid plays 4 seconds then jumps back to start and will not play thru

so I imported a short video to edit the sound and when I play it it only goes 4 secondds then jumps back to start and quits playing. why is that and how to make it play through?

What container format, audio and video codecs are your file? ffprobe is a nice command line way to get this info.

I don't want to be that guy, but it might be worth checking you haven't created an 'In' and 'Out' point accidently.
