Hobbyist new to DVR

Hi there! I’m Bill. I downloaded DaVinci Resolve to help edit a video I’m making for our Bowling Club 100 years anniversary.
I’m beginning to think I made a mistake as I can’t figure out how to transfer video files from my iPhone to my windows PC then to DVR! The first part iPhone to PC is fine using iCloud. DVR doesn’t recognise the format though. I’ve downloaded a HEVC Extension and tried converting the files using HandBrake. No luck so far… if I find a solution I’ll post on here in case anyone is in the same boat.

When using Handbrake, did you use the video conversion to H.264 video encoder? I could be wrong, as the paid version of DVR should work, but the free version does not have all the bells and whistles.

On top of that:
Change the framerate from Peak Framerate to Constant Framerate, then set and match your framerate. DVR hates variable frame rate, and the iPhone is known for it. You will see media offline message or audio issues. Ensure that the Encoder Profile is set to Main.
  • Format: MP4
  • Video Codec: H.264 (x264)
  • Framerate: 29.97 (Constant Framerate)
  • Encoder Level: 4.0 or 4.1

The free version doesn't handle H.265 HDR files and video frame rate jumps. You may still be able to get it pulled together if you adjust all the settings correctly in Handbreak.
