First post here. I bought Resolve Studio because captions are important to me in the editing I do of improvised video poems. I find problems installing it which AI tells me are somewhat common.
I've been attempting to install DaVinci Resolve Studio 20 on Windows and am unable to get Studio features to unlock, despite having a valid license. I've performed nearly six complete uninstalls and reinstalls, each time going progressively deeper into manual cleanup — including removing all Blackmagic Design folders from AppData, ProgramData, LocalAppData, Program Files, and cleaning all associated registry entries under HKCU, HKLM, and WOW6432Node.
My suspicion, and that of the AI assistant I've been working with, is that a corrupted database or residual configuration files from an earlier installation of the free version of Resolve are surviving the cleanup process and interfering with Studio license recognition in the fresh install.
I've been advised that Blackmagic Design support has a proprietary cleanup tool that goes deeper than manual uninstallation. I've submitted a support request but response has been slow. I'm hoping someone here has experience with this specific problem, access to that tool, or can point me toward a faster resolution.
I am in Windows 11.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated
