Motion jpeg 4k interlace bug

I rendered some video in autodesk max to motion jpeg AVI in 4k and tried to convert them to mp4 in Davinci to reduce file sizes but DaVinci interprets the motionjpeg as interlave video and ruins the resulting file. WHY??? and how do I/you fix that? there seem to be no option to change that and the software shows the source video as progressive but during conversion it's treated as interlace or otherwise alternating lines damage.

I'm not familiar with that file type but I did a little bit of research... It looks like DR is not the best at handling MJPEG AVI. If all you needed to do was convert to .mp4, try using Handbrake.
